YATTA!! MAKE EYEBALLS!!

Hello~
Continuing from the last post~
i remmember ppl always asked me when they saw this design:
r u inspired by davyjones(pirates of the carribean) since its like a dreadlock-like-kinda feelin..
it does look like it doesn't it?..
well..my first thought when developing d design was.....

 <---this eyes!!

i wanna make lots of eyeballs hanging on people's head n drew blood n slimy veins...
after i complete d design..i think of aliens (in alien vs predator)..n medusa.. but after that
it kind of remind me of davyjones...
:)

anyway...

just for sharing n showing u guys how to make d eyeballs..:)

i am casting RTV silicone/silicone caulk to have the rubber material and slimy effect...other then that its just a fun way to explore materials other than fabrics..

fyi..to save all d trouble u can just make 2 oval shapes of cut out fabrics..sew it..turn the right side..stuff with cotton n seal it.(for the round shape eyeballs)

but if u want to get different effects/textures/shapes...u have to try this!!! (u can basically cast everything)

things u need for casting mold:
1. silicon caulk/RTV silicone- u can buy at any hardware store..make sure its 100% silicon..NOT THE
    ACRYLIC SILICONE.easy to get.n cheap.
2. vaseline - to make sure the intricate part(usually textures of object) are smooth and wont stick to your mold
3. caulk gun
4. face mask (for d safety of your precious lungs)..please get the organic breathing mask/good quality mask.. avoid smelling the silicone directly.it smells 10times of ur cooking vinegar..yuk!!
4.dish washer soap (always apply to your fingers before touching the silicone so that it wont stick to your hand.. always dry your hand with a cloth before washing it)
5.object to cast

STEP:
1. clean and apply vaseline on the object's surface. RTV silicone wont stick to paper. everything else, just apply vaseline just in case.  it sticks hard on ceramics (this caulk are meant for fixing your toilet n tiles :D)
2. apply silicone on surface. always put on the soapy water on your fingers. dab with your fingers to eliminate air bubbles (for smooth surface)

*when buying silicone.make sure the color of the liquid.i used clear and white silicone.
*always work on open space/balcony/workshop.. seriously it stinks..
* when molding..make sure to work on half side of the object.or at least u have the space to free the mold.

3. left to complete dry (usually a day..on a sunny day..n depends on how thick the silicone are)
4.free the mold..n be happy :D~

the making of the eyeballs :
i have casted more than 30 bowls/objects of different sizes. sewn 30pieces of stuffed eyeballs(to decreased weight) and make the slimy thread from silicone.

*slimy thread: using the same rtv silicone..drag down on newspapers to the length of your choice.

it's coloring time!!!!!

u gonna need acrylic colors.other material such as permanent marker, rubber paint, etc wont work!

<-- acrylic colors

trim the edges of the molds and color the surfaces.

attach the silicon thread with the silicone eyeballs

attaching eyeballs to the headgear

1. make a headgear out of hood's pattern.silicone is quite heavy especially when u make a thick surface out of the silicone/attach too many of it.make sure to make a fit pattern so it wont fall off from the head.
2. use jean thread to attach the silicone eyeballs to the hood piece.secure it nicely and around the edge, so it will stick nicely

3. mix with fabric stuffed eyeballs for floating effects.TADAAA!!!! :D

still clueless?? this might help : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkxK4QCRjZA

there u have it~ :)))))

there are million ways on how to make ur garments..but x b afraid to explore other options :)))..
